Following feedback from this year’s patient survey we are introducing a new Duty Doctor Appointment system to the surgery.
The Duty Doctor system will allow the surgery to deal with urgent matters for that day, when there are no appointments left available to book. The Duty Doctor may be able to help you over the telephone or arrange an appointment for you to be seen by them at the surgery.
The receptionist will ask some screening questions to patients requesting an on the day appointment. This is solely for the patients benefit in order to place them with the right clinician and provide patients with the best possible care. Please try to be as helpful as possible when asked these questions and remember that all staff have a legal, ethical and contractual obligation of confidentiality and must ensure they act appropriately to protect patient information against improper disclosure.
Patients whose needs are urgent will be added to the Duty Doctors telephone list and will be contacted by the Duty Doctor to discuss their symptoms.
Patients will only be added to the Duty Doctor’s telephone list if it is an urgent problem that needs to be dealt with that day. If this is not the case, Patient’s will be asked to call back to book an appointment the following day or offered the next available pre-bookable appointment.
