Travel Clinic and Holiday Vaccinations

At Castle we have staff trained to provide you with all the information and vaccinations when you travel abroad. As the world starts to open up after the Pandemic, many are looking to travel again so it is important that you check any destination and ensure that you have the right vaccinations before you leave the UK.

Travel consultations are carried out by specialist travel nurses in a dedicated travel clinics at our Mile End Road Surgery and we see both registered and private patients. Currently clinics are held on a Tuesday or Friday afternoon.

Prior to travelling, please allow as much time as possible to arrange your appointment (preferably at least 6 weeks), which will be with the Practice Nurse. Our Nurses will require to know which countries, and areas within countries, that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

Please note that only the following vaccinations are available free of charge on the NHS:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid
  • Cholera
  • Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio

All others will incur a charge and the prices can be found on our travel fees page.

Private patients will also be charged for the travel consultation. If you are a registered Patient of Castle, then this consultation is free of charge and will last approx. 20 mins. At your initial appointment, we will run through a personal assessment of risks/needs, taking into account your length of stay, activities and any existing health problems. This assessment will determine which vaccinations/medication you require.

If you require any immunisations, the travel nurses will begin these as soon as possible. Some vaccines, due to their short shelf life and cost, will have to be ordered and not carried as stock. Payment will be required before any vaccine is administered.
